Child Discipline Starts With Mom And Dad

Parents should start child discipline early.
My wife and I have a degree in child development.  But I assure you, raising children is not as easy as the books say.  One parenting hurdle is child discipline.  Of course everyone of us want to have kids with the right values.  But before you hit the books or check out the all-knowing google, know that discipline starts with the parents.

Having a family with great values require focusing on the fundamentals.  And I am talking about the discipline of the parents.  It is a huge commitment to raise a child so get ready.  If you are not ready for the responsibility then you are in trouble.  Likewise, it is essential that both mom and dad are clear on the boundaries of discipline.  Child discipline strategies vary from person to person and from generation to generation.  I grew up at a time when spanking kids are a daily occurrence.  In contrast, my wife and I do not believe in spanking.  So this is a huge decision between parents.  What child discipline strategies will you employ?.  Lastly, and probably one of the hardest to do is to stick with your strategy.  When one parent deviates from the plan, the child may get confused.  This is really evident when one parent does one thing while the other does the opposite.

So child discipline is a critical part of your lives as parents.  Make sure you build on a strong foundation in order to create a stronger family.

A New Start With The Christian Life Program

It is not enough to be called a Christian.  As this distinction requires a lot of responsibility.  Unfortunately, some turn their backs on the responsibilities of being a Christian.  Unfortunate still is that I am one of those who neglected the duties.  But things are looking up even for those who forgot what it means to follow Christ.

In a half-hearted yes, I agreed to attend the Christian Life Program in our parish.  I did not have the courage to bluntly say no to my wife as she really wanted to attend.  And when the time for the first meeting drew nearer, I became a little more uncomfortable.  But I said yes.

For the past several weeks we have been attending and learning what it means to be Christians.  Wow, it is a lot of work and a lot of sacrifices. Who knew it took so much to be called a follower of Christ?

Call it epiphany or just some sense knocked into me, I begun seeing myself a little more open to the spiritual side of life.  Moreover, attending the meetings gave me some comfort.  I eventually looked forward to attending instead of just watching TV -and Saturday night TV is usually great.

I suppose this is a start of something even more beautiful.  Better late than never.  And when I look back, I am glad that I gave that half-hearted yes to attend the Christian Life Program.

Kids For Christ: Getting To Know God While At Play

Yna in a contemplative state?
The summer of 2015 is special for the family.  This was the time when Yna joined the Kids For Christ community in our Parish.  Of course at 4 years old, she was looking for some fun.  And what better way to enjoy than learning what it means to be a Christian.

Even if where just once a month, she would anticipate joined ng and participating in the activities.   In the process of learning what God is all about or what being a Christian is, she made new friends.  Raising our daughter with God in her heart is a fantastic way to build character and values.  She is a work in progress as we all are.  But it is definitely easier when the right scaffolding sa really in place.

The summer of 2015 was the time when Yna was formally welcomed into the Kids For Christ community.  And it is something we are truly greatful for.
